How nerdy are you?

So I know this is going to sound overly geeky, but I was reading this science blog and she had a link to a quiz type thing that measured your level of Nerdiness. She scored a 99 which is about as high as you can go, but that is sort of what you might expect from a woman who has a science blog. So I took said test, (not on work time of course:) and scored a 72. I posted the link here on the side so you can take the test and see how you do. Leave comments with your scores so people can see how you did. I wasn't very impressed with my 72, but some of that is due to being married and having kids. I have found that my wife will only allow me to be so nerdy. There is a line that I can't cross, not because she wouldn't love me if I did, but because being a nerd in the 90th percentile takes time.

I also thought I should take this opportunity to send my condolences to the family, friends and fans of Steve Irwin. I have been amazed by the sheer size of his fan base and the people who have mentioned how much they will miss him. Everyone from talk show hosts to Microsoft engineers have paid their tributes via blogs, newspapers and t.v. shows. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I loved the guy, why wouldn't everyone. So I started thinking about Steve and what it was about him that people loved. What I came up with was pretty simple really. Steve had an unbridled passion for what he did. His passion for wildlife and the environment was obvious and infectious. The obvious joy he got from doing his job and sharing the information he thought people should know was what he lived for. Sure he was loud and sometimes a little over the top, but it was ok because it was real. It was him being him and people who came into contact with him couldn't help but be affected. I think we could all stand to take a page out of Steve's book and express some passion in our daily lives. I know could.

Steve, you will be missed, but not forgotten.

Chris = 23. I think it is more science geek than computer geek. I haven't thought about the periodic table in a long time.

Alicia - 76. I agree that this is more science geek and I fully blame my score on my father being a science teacher...

What do you mean "you blame" your father. You should be ashamed you scored so low. :)

64 - Low Ranking Nerd. Definitely a nerd but low on the totem pole of nerds.

You now see what you need to do to get people to post comments. :)

I should have known it would take something like a nerd quiz or a promise of free food.
